Igloo Building Competition

Nailsworth's annual igloo building contest was again held in the bus station, this second week of December. Two weeks of heavy snow fall and freezing temperatures ensured a successful event. Five teams of three took part, with the panel of judges coming from as far away as Windsoredge. A hole was drilled into the pack ice that covered the Nailsworth stream, and a line lowered to catch anything that moved. This catch would be used to feed the hungry spectators. The judges had a difficult task selecting a winner. The results are as follows.

Team four were disqualified immediately for building an underground igloo. This contravenes the town building regulations as the secret underground control centre could be discovered, and Nailsworth's terrible secret could get out.

Team two were also disqualified for erecting a modern dome tent. This was not going to fool anyone.

This left the effort of three teams to judge. Two of these teams copied each other so lost points for originality.

Team one were the outright winners, by demonstrating considerable skills with their three story effort, complete with a revolving restaurant at the top offering panoramic views of the hills and a garden.
