Large Crane - Complete Report October 27th 2001

If you live in Nailsworth you can't fail to have noticed the rather large yellow structure that has taken root on the site of the Old George Hotel, as shown in the black and white photograph.

A crane of these proportions would have you thinking that perhaps a tower block is being constructed, rather than the 'rebuild' of the original hotel.

Anyway, while not very exciting, it does prove the laws of physics, as anyone stepping out of the pub late on a Friday evening may have noticed the ground spinning. This is nothing to do with any consumed drink, but is in fact the whole town rotating in the opposite direction to that of the crane.

My round? I think not...

The top photograph is the site as seen if arriving from the Stroud direction, while the second photo is as seen from Old Market.
