Nailsworth town festival gets underway with some startling trolley pushing taking place in the town bus station. I have to say that I was only alerted to the event by the sound of a steam whistle, which I soon tracked down to an old steam traction engine, well to be correct a steam roadroller parked where the buses would normally live. The rest of the bus station was marked out into racing lanes, where the trolley racing would take place.

The trolley pushing act of 1637 clearly states that the trolley must be pushed in it's own lane and strategically placed plastic bottles of water must be collected and placed into the trolley. At the end of the course a U-turn around an old tyre takes place and a final charge back to the starting place will determine the winner. Presumably the winner is the one who crosses the finishing line first and has the full compliment of bottles.

The Nailsworth Bugle sent it's intrepid photographer to the bus station to grab some photos of the event, that took place at around 2:15pm. This was all a bit too much for him as the batteries in his digital camera died after the second race. Click here for more photos of the festival. If you have any photographs of the festival and or some 'words', and would like to show them on the Nailsworth site then e-mail them to me.
